Rugadh agus tógadh Kevin i nDún Chionnaola i dTír Chonaill. In Iar -dheisceart Dhún na nGall, an áit ina bhfuil ceol na bhfidil agus ceol an bhosca an choitianta, is ansin a fuair sé a chéad ghrá don cheol tradisiúnta . Bhí ceangal láidir aige leis na Campbells agus thug an gaol speisealta seo é isteach sna Cruacha agus síos Gleann na nGleanntach. Thosaigh Kevin agus a dheartháir Aiden ag seinim ar an fhidil nuair a bhí siad óg agus ní fada go raibh siad ina fhidileoirí den scoth. Caitheann Caoimhín an chuid is mó dá chuid ama anois i ndlúthchomhar leis na múinteoirí sna scoilteacha ag spreagadh na páistí óga ins an cheol tradisiúnta Ghaelach. Tá baint mhór aige in eagrú agus athbheochan Féile na bhFidléirí i nDún Chionnaola.

Kevin O'Donnell is a native of Dunkineely. Co Donegal. His early introduction to music was listening to the music of the fine fiddle and box players
from that South Western corner of the county.
His family connections with "The Campbells" would have taken him through "the Croaghs"
and down into the Glen of Glenties. Kevin and his brother Aiden O'Donnell started on the fiddle at a young age and by mid-teens they were both accomplished musicians.
Kevin studied music in Derry and developed a career as a music teacher and preformer . Along with staff of local national Schools he pioneered the reintroduction of structured music classes in many local schools.
Kevin is also involved in the organisation of the recently inaugurated Dunkineely Fiddle Festival
