This year we’re delighted to honour Tara Connaghan fiddle player from Glenties. Tara's musical heritage is steeped in the fiddle tradition of Glenties and the Glen of Glenties. Her fiddle style and
repertoire is also strongly influenced
by the fiddle tradition of GlenColmcille, Carrick and Teelin. Her mother is Ann, (nee Boyle) of the Greenhouse Bar Ardara which has strong links to Ardara fiddle music.
Tara studied Music at University College Cork (UCC), she made a duet fiddle recording with Derek McGinley in 2011. The album features many of the tunes which would have be heard at "house dances" in the past and are played
in a style which is true to the settings of the tunes back in the day of "house dances".
